Softball Recap: Corinth Holders Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Corinth Holders put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Rolesville Rams with a sharp 16-1 victory. The Pirates' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Elizabeth McKenzie made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). McKenzie was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.

In other batting news, MacKenzie Murray was a standout: she scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Kelly McKnight was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Corinth Holders always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Corinth Holders' win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.4 runs. As for Rolesville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corinth Holders will face off against Western Harnett at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Corinth Holders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Western Harnett's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Rolesville, they will square off against Enloe at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rolesville has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
