Harvest Christian Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Chicago Hope Academy as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Alyssa Burke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kenzie Weidman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Richards, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Harvest Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Edward, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over Walther Christian Academy on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Green Wave in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won seven in a row.
Alaina Nolan made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Mackenzie Fitzpatrick was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April. Kendall Pemberton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Harvest Christian Academy's record is now 12-14. As for St. Edward, they now have a winning record of 15-14.
Harvest Christian Academy suffered a grim 16-3 defeat to St. Edward in their previous meeting last Monday. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
