The North Summit Braves will be playing at home against the Grand County Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully North Summit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
After a string of four wins, North Summit's good fortune finally ran out. They took a 56-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Duchesne.
Trevor Richins put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 32 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Jake Smith was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, even though Gunnison Valley scored an imposing 64 points on Saturday, Grand County still came out on top. Grand County took their game against Gunnison Valley 77-64. Grand County pushed the score to 66-45 by the end of the third, a deficit Gunnison Valley cut but never quite recovered from.
Grand County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Wyatt Toney out in front who scored 15 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Toney posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Lane Berry, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
North Summit's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Grand County, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: North Summit have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Grand County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
North Summit came out on top in a nail-biter against Grand County when the teams last played on January 13th, sneaking past 72-70. Does North Summit have another victory up their sleeve, or will Grand County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
