Twin Lakes is 9-0 against the Kougars since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Twin Lakes Indians will head out on the road to take on the Kankakee Valley Kougars at 7:45 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Indiana (Twin Lakes is ranked 159th, while the Kougars are ranked 165th).
Even though Knox scored an imposing 56 points on Saturday, Twin Lakes still came out on top. Twin Lakes took their matchup against the Redskins 65-56. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 12 to 5 on the offensive boards, as Twin Lakes did.
Twin Lakes' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jamison Ousley, who scored 16 points along with four steals, and Gavin Businger, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Ousley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Kyser, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Kankakee Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 72-64 to La Porte. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jeremiah Jones, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Brady Sampson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
Twin Lakes pushed their record up to 12-5 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Kankakee Valley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7.
Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Twin Lakes have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 44.6% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Kankakee Valley struggles in that department as they've made 43.5% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Twin Lakes beat the Kougars 65-57 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Twin Lakes since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
