Elkins was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in Big Ten. The Tigers defeated East Fairmont 53-11 earlier in the week.
Byrd led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Buckhannon-Upshur.
Elkins' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Silas Gibson threw for 102 and two touchdowns and Clayton Collett had 70 yards receiving. On the ground L. J. Lawrence chipped in 132 yards. Sean Cain helped Elkins' passing attack out by catching two balls for 38 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Ivy Bartlett of Grafton is the league leader in passing yards this season with 429. He has also thrown three touchdowns. On the ground, Greg Hott's team's Lawrence has rushed for 1491 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Shaquille Washington. The Fairmont star has seven catches for 276 yards.
A big matchup in Big Ten this week will be when Fairmont takes on Bridgeport. The Polar Bears are currently in sixth, while the Indians are in fourth.
