The Chilton County Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Pike Road Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Chilton County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Chilton County will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Stanhope Elmore on Tuesday. Chilton County put the hurt on Stanhope Elmore with a sharp 14-1 victory.
Kaylee Dunn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Dunn was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Chilton County let Makenzie Harrison and Macey Pierce run wild. Harrison scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Pierce went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Harrison also put up a double, which washer first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brianna Goggins, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Chilton County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Pike Road was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 12-0 to Beauregard. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Patriots have suffered since April 18, 2024.
Pike Road saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Williams, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
The win got Chilton County back to even at 2-2-1. As for Pike Road, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Pike Road's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chilton County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having hit 0 of their hits per game. It's a different story for Pike Road, though, as they've only hit 0 of their hits this season. Will they be able to contain Chilton County's hitters?
Chilton County took their victory against Pike Road when the teams last played back in February of 2020 by a conclusive 10-4. Will Chilton County repeat their success, or does Pike Road have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
