The Yulee Hornets will challenge the Wakulla War Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Yulee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Yulee is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against West Nassau, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hornets have posted since April 9th.
Yulee got a great performance from Paislie Turner as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Turner has posted since back in March.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carmen Overstreet, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Jade Fisher also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Wakulla entered their tilt with Wolfson on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Wolfpack with a sharp 8-0 victory. Considering the War Eagles have won 13 matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Parker Stubbs was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cylie Long, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Wakulla hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive games.
Yulee now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Wakulla, their record now sits at 23-4.
Yulee couldn't quite get it done against Wakulla when the teams last played back in May of 2022 as they fell 5-2. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
