Oscoda extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-13. They came up short against the Mio-Au Sable Thunderbolts, falling 15-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderbolts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 on Thursday.
Alex Burns and Zayne Altz did some serious damage despite the final result: Burns went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double, while Altz went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those hits were Burns' first of the season.
As for Mio-Au Sable, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games.
On Mio-Au Sable's side, Beckett Champagne was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Champagne was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Brody Fox was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six stolen bases, five runs, and one double. Mio-Au Sable is undefeated when Fox posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Brock Stewert was another key player, going 2-for-4 with six RBI and one triple.
Looking ahead, Oscoda will head out on the road to challenge Heston Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mio-Au Sable, they have already played their next game, a 15-0 win against Posen on the 9th.
