South Laurel has won four straight games at home, while Mercer County has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. On Tuesday, South Laurel made easy work of Williamsburg and carried off a 16-1 win. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Skye Lawson was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Kinlee Ertel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Laurel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mercer County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Boyle County 5-4. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by just one run.
Mia Floro was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ella Davis, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
South Laurel is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Mercer County, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
Mercer County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Laurel has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Mercer County, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given South Laurel's sizable advantage in that area, the Titans will need to find a way to close that gap.
