Basketball Recap: Leila O'dowd's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rincon/University over Sahuaro

Rincon/University lost against Sahuaro back in December of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Rincon/University Rangers fell 45-34 to the Sahuaro Cougars. The Rangers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rincon/University lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Leila O'Dowd, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Those five steals gave O'Dowd a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Laura Quiroz, who had seven points.

Sahuaro found their leader in sophomore Harmony Twito, who put up ten points along with five assists and five rebounds. Anissa Garcia was another key player, putting up eight points.

Rincon/University's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Sahuaro, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Rincon/University will head out on the road to challenge Maryvale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rincon/University is facing Maryvale at the right time seeing as Maryvale is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Sahuaro, they will venture away from home to square off against Walden Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sahuaro's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so Walden Grove's offense will have their work cut out for them.
