Morehead is 10-0 against Northeast Guilford since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Morehead Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Northeast Guilford Rams at 8:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Rockingham County scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, Morehead still came out on top. Morehead took their matchup against Rockingham County 73-61. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to ten on the offensive boards, as Morehead did.
Morehead's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Makel Smith, who scored 18 points along with 6 assists and 3 steals. The contest was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Sharpe, who scored 20 points.
Meanwhile, even though Southeast Guilford scored an imposing 63 points on Tuesday, Northeast Guilford still came out on top. Northeast Guilford strolled past Southeast Guilford with points to spare, taking the game 78-63. The victory was just what Northeast Guilford needed coming off of a 77-51 loss in their prior contest.
Northern Guilford's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Morehead's defeat dropped theirs to 1-1.
Morehead took their victory against Northeast Guilford in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 77-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morehead since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
