Mountain View and Rosemead are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. Mountain View will square off against Rosemead at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Mountain View will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Mountain View had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Marshall on Wednesday. Mountain View put the hurt on Marshall with a sharp 18-1 win. That looming 18-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.

Leanna Ramirez was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ashley Saldivar was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with five RBI and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Geanine 'Nini' Martinez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Mountain View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .467 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
While Rosemead didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 14-11 victory over Costa Mesa on March 7th.
Alainah Mendoza was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmin Slayton, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Mountain View's record now sits at 4-7. As for Rosemead, their record now sits at 4-1.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mountain View has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. However, it's not like Rosemead struggles in that department as they've averaged .509. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Mountain View's way against Rosemead in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Mountain View made off with a 17-6 win. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Rosemead has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
