Torrey Pines came out on top against Cathedral Catholic by a score of 65-54 on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Torrey Pines, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Torrey Pines had a senior duo take command as Matin Madadkar scored 23 points and Zach Jackson dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Madadkar's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Kail, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Cathedral Catholic saw an underclassman step up: Ty Ingram scored 25 points. The match was Ingram's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Kai Carlson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
Torrey Pines' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Cathedral Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 6-1.
Torrey Pines will head out on the road to face off against Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Coronado has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games. As for Cathedral Catholic, they will square off against Strake Jesuit at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Strake Jesuit will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 320th in Texas, while Cathedral Catholic is ranked 62nd in California).
