Providence is a perfect 4-0 against Rocky River since October of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Ravens at 7:00 p.m. The game will give Providence their first taste of in-conference action this season.
Providence will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Butler, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Panthers snuck past the Bulldogs with a 27-21 victory on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Providence's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaleb Vines led the charge by rushing for 121 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also picking up 34 receiving yards. Luke Meador was another key signal caller, throwing for 202 yards and two TDs while completing 75% of his passes.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Providence proved: they limited Butler to a paltry 2.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Colton Bogan for the heroic effort on defense: he. The dominant display was nothing new: Providence has now limited their opponent to fewer and fewer yards per carry in three consecutive contests.

Providence's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up eight sacks. It was truly a group effort as Liam Drayton, Adlai Martin, Granger Sutsko, and Cory Cunningham picked up two apiece. Cunningham is crushing it when it comes to sacks: he's posted at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another thorn in Butler's side was Bogan, who made 13 total tackles and defended two passes.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rocky River, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They never let Garinger get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Ravens in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.
Rocky River found their leader in sophomore Xavier Smith, who rushed for 32 yards and one score, and also threw for 81 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Rocky River's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Providence, their win bumped their record up to an identical 2-3.
Everything came up roses for Providence against Rocky River in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 45-15 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Ravens' Darius Ervin, Jr., who picked up 93 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Panthers to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
