The Oviedo Lions entered their tilt with the Apopka Blue Darters with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Oviedo managed a 55-49 victory over Apopka on Saturday. Given Oviedo's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Apopka is ranked 186th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alex Harper continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points. Hunter Haverkamp was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 7 assists.
Oviedo has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 7-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Apopka, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Oviedo will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Brantley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Lake Brantley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Saturday. As for Apopka, they will head out on the road to face off against Mount Dora at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
