The Monmouth-Roseville Titans are taking a road trip to square off against the Princeton Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Orion hit Monmouth-Roseville with a four-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Titans came up short against the Chargers, falling 9-0. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Monmouth-Roseville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Noel, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Noel has snagged this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Princeton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against Mendota by a score of 6-2 on Monday.
Princeton also got a great performance from Tyler Forristall as he struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ace Christiansen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nolan Kloepping, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Princeton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.
Princeton's record now sits at 3-4-1. As for Monmouth-Roseville, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Monmouth-Roseville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Princeton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Monmouth-Roseville suffered a grim 11-2 defeat to Princeton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
