Basketball Recap: Mountain View Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Leilani Wright and Audrey Mackey

Mountain View Academy easily dispatched East Palo Alto Academy last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Mountain View Academy Mustangs fell just short of the Pacific Bay Christian Eagles by a score of 30-28 on Monday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2017.

Despite the defeat, Mountain View Academy had strong showings from Audrey Mackey, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 15 points, and Leilani Wright, who posted 13 points. Mackey's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Pacific Bay Christian found their leader in sophomore Savanna Munds, who scored 16 points along with six boards and four steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for Munds. Terra Pandolfi was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Mountain View Academy's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-2. As for Pacific Bay Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

Mountain View Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Kehillah at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Kehillah: 21.7, Mountain View Academy: 30) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Pacific Bay Christian, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against San Francisco Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Pacific Bay Christian is facing San Francisco Christian at the right time seeing as San Francisco Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
