Baseball Recap: Chapman Comes Up Short

Chapman was the 7-3 winner over Abilene when they last played one another on Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Irish fell 8-4 to the Cowboys on Tuesday.

Aven Woods was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Chapman is 5-1 when Woods posts two or more runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

Chapman's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Abilene, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chapman will take on St. Marys at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Irish are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Abilene, they will be playing at home against Wamego on Friday. The Red Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Cowboys' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
