Basketball Recap: Calvary Chapel Academy Comes Up Short

Calvary Chapel Academy lost against Merritt Island Christian back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Calvary Chapel Academy Eagles fell 47-38 to the Merritt Island Christian Cougars. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Calvary Chapel Academy still got an impressive performance from Ryan Adema, who went 5 of 10 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Adema has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Welsh, who posted ten points.

Merritt Island Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trey Nevad, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Nevad has scored at least a third of Merritt Island Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Connor Angstadt, who had 13 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Calvary Chapel Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Merritt Island Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Calvary Chapel Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-52 loss against Brevard Christian on the 9th. As for Merritt Island Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-24 defeat against Melbourne Central Catholic on the 9th.
