Dan River and William Campbell are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Dan River Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the William Campbell Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dan River will be strutting in after a win while William Campbell will be coming in after a loss.
Dan River is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 48-17 victory over Nelson County. The Wildcats have beaten the Governors the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Governors has come to flipping the script.

Dan River found their leader in freshman Liza Maxey, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 19 points and three steals. Maxey also brought in his first three-point shooting accuracy of the season. Another player making a difference was Samaria Knick, who posted six points along with ten boards and three steals.
Dan River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, William Campbell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 51-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chatham.
Dan River will have to contain Arnesia Dews as she made an impact in William Campbell's last game. She dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten steals. The game was Dews' third in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Wilson, who earned 12 points.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-17. As for William Campbell, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Dan River has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 40 rebounds per game. However, it's not like William Campbell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Dan River lost to William Campbell on the road by a decisive 46-32 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can Dan River avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
