After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Westlake, Timpview was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They skirted past the Farmington Phoenix 14-13. With that win, the Thunderbirds brought their scoring average up to 7.3 runs per game.
Will Cannon made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. Cannon was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs.
In other batting news, Timpview got a massive performance out of Cole Engemann, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Riley Anderson was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Timpview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Farmington only posted a batting average of .242.
The victory got Timpview back to even at 3-3. As for Farmington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Timpview will face off against Cottonwood at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Farmington, they will square off against Cyprus at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
