The Mekeel Christian Academy Lions put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Moriah with points to spare, taking the game 84-65. Given Mekeel Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Vikings are ranked 49th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Moriah's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Allen, who scored 23 points. Another player making a difference was Logan Gilbo, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Mekeel Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Moriah, their loss dropped their record down to 9-1.
Mekeel Christian Academy will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Green Tech's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups. Moriah will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Red Storm at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Saranac Lake is on a three-game streak of home wins, the Vikings a 15-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
