2B Southeast recap Oct. 9, 2012
Tri-Cities Prep's Evan Whitsett rumbled for the longest rushing play in 2B Southeast this season in his game against Mabton last week. Whitsett's team topped the Vikings as he sprinted for 72 yards on the play and finished with 135 in all.
Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Asotin, 22-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Nighthawks.
Tri-Cities Prep's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dane Pedersen threw for 48 and one touchdown and Bennett Pedersen had 48 yards receiving.
Pedersen made the biggest impact on defense this week as Dan Whitsett's team defeated Mabton. The 6-foot-2 sophomore forced one fumble.
Tri-Cities Prep's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Jaguars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Whitsett has thrown for 447 yards and eight touchdowns this season, while Josh Guajardo has 18 catches for 186 yards. Bailey Rivas leads the league in rushing with 760 yards.
A big matchup in 2B Southeast this week will be when DeSales takes on Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia. At the moment, the Irish are in third, while Kaleb Madison's team is in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when DeSales takes on the Nighthawks. Pat Graham's team has allowed 54 points this season, while Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia has given up 61.
The Jaguars took down Shane Thorson's team 44-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Whitsett in the win.
