First Philadelphia Prep scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 79-69 victory over MAST Charter II. The victory was a breath of fresh air for First Philadelphia Prep as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
First Philadelphia Prep had a senior duo take command as Ezekiel Alvarado scored 16 points and Av-Ron Averette scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Averette scored 15 or more points. Iziah Bashir was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
MAST Charter II lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cedric Williams, who scored 27 points. Williams scored a full 39.1% of MAST Charter II's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Basil Graham, who scored 18 points.
First Philadelphia Prep's win bumped their record up to 1-3. As for MAST Charter II, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. First Philadelphia Prep will be home for the holidays to greet Hill Freedman World Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Hill Freedman World Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.6 points per game. MAST Charter II will be home for the holidays to greet Strawberry Mansion at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Strawberry Mansion is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
