The Chico Panthers will challenge the Colusa RedHawks at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Chico sitting on three straight wins and Colusa on seven.
On Thursday, Chico needed a bit of extra time to put away Foothill. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Cougars.

McKena Harvey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over nine innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those 17 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Nadeau, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Chico kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill only managed three.
Meanwhile, Colusa got themselves on the board against Willows last Thursday, but Willows never followed suit. They blew past the Honkers 16-0. That 16-run margin sets a new team best for the RedHawks this season.
Peyton Miller was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Elli Quintana, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
Colusa's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Chico, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
Colusa's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Chico has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Colusa, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Chico keep running through batters, or will the RedHawks buck the trend?
Everything went Chico's way against Colusa in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Chico made off with an 8-1 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the RedHawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
