The Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Coral Springs Charter Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Pompano Beach ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 67-66 win over Miami Beach. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Jonathan Berwig, who scored 25 points along with five assists and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Rowan, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Coral Springs Charter can finally bid farewell to their 19-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They secured a 50-44 W over Coconut Creek. The victory was just what Coral Springs Charter needed coming off of a 55-28 defeat in their prior game.
Coral Springs Charter can attribute much of their success to Jurgen Meza, who scored 22 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Meza has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jalen McGregor, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
The win got Pompano Beach back to even at 9-9. As for Coral Springs Charter, their victory ended a 11-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-15.
Pompano Beach strolled past Coral Springs Charter in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 66-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pompano Beach since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
