Even though the Groton Tigers scored an imposing 62 points on Friday, the Pine Ridge Thorpes still came out on top. Pine Ridge walked away with a 73-62 victory over Groton. Given Pine Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Groton is ranked 31st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Marvin Richard lll, who scored 31 points along with seven assists. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Kanye Hollow Horn was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Pine Ridge's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Groton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Pine Ridge will be playing at home against Hot Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Groton, they will head out on the road to face off against Warner at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Warner is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
