Despite the loss, Jefferson Davis Academy got top-tier performance from Nasir Void, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. Void is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colson Loadholt, who posted nine points.
Even though they lost, Jefferson Davis Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Calhoun Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They breezed by the Stallions to the tune of 56-29. That looming 56-29 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cavaliers yet this season.
Jefferson Davis Academy better keep an eye on Chase Strickland. He was instrumental in Calhoun Academy's win, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nick Lindsay, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven steals and five boards.
Jefferson Davis Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Calhoun Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
