The Olympus Titans will challenge the Woods Cross Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Olympus comes in on nine and Woods Cross on six.
If Olympus beats Woods Cross with five runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Titans never let East get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Wednesday.
Olympus got a great performance from Cougar Vance as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Vance has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on ANDREW MORGAN, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Woods Cross and Box Elder, and Woods Cross kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats walked away with a 5-1 win over the Bees on Saturday.
Heston White tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Kason Lythgoe was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Alex Razee was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Woods Cross pushed their record up to 18-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Olympus, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Olympus hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Woods Cross struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Olympus couldn't quite get it done against Woods Cross in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as they fell 11-7. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
