The Fort Wayne Northrop Bruins posted their biggest win since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They blew past Fort Wayne Wayne 83-62. Given Fort Wayne Northrop's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Fort Wayne Wayne is ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Khala Williams-Thomas, who scored 38 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Lexi Castator was another key contributor, almost dropping a triple-double on 13 points, nine rebounds, and ten assists.
Several Generals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Khalise Collins, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Davianna Irons, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Fort Wayne Wayne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Wayne Northrop only pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Fort Wayne Northrop and bumps their season record up to 14-5. As for Fort Wayne Wayne, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.
Fort Wayne Northrop will head out on the road to challenge Columbia City at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbia City is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Fort Wayne Wayne, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against East Noble at 7:30 p.m.
