Meanwhile, Monticello has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging three runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They came up short against Mt. Zion, falling 13-6. The Sages have struggled against the Braves recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Sadie Walsh was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4. Ali Weidner was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Tri-Valley's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Monticello, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 11-1.
Both Tri-Valley and Monticello just can't seem to miss. The Vikings have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Monticello struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
