East Duplin has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Whiteville Wolfpack at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but East Duplin had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 41-18 margin over Eastern Wayne. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point East Duplin had established a 22 point advantage.
Jeremiah Judge was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Brown, who threw for 157 yards and a touchdown while completing 80% of his passes.
Meanwhile, while Whiteville put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for South Granville. Whiteville really took it to South Granville for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-0 victory at home. The win was nothing new for Whiteville as they're now sitting on five straight.
East Duplin has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. As for Whiteville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Everything came up roses for East Duplin against Whiteville when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 49-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Duplin since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
