Newport lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. Newport put the hurt on Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy with a sharp 12-2 win on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Buffaloes, who have now won three contests in a row.

Aden Banks spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Landon Zaring was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Zachary Bates was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Newport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy only posted an OBP of .227.

Newport pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
