Basketball Game Preview: Bethune Bobcats vs. South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Patriots

The Bethune Bobcats will square off against the South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Patriots at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Bethune is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 53-26 win over Triplains/Brewster. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bobcats have posted since December 8, 2023.

Madilyn Powell had an outrageously good game as she went 8 of 20 on her way to 23 points along with five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Samantha Robinson, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] entered their tilt with Primero on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went their way against the Bulldogs as they made off with a 57-33 win.

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] found their leader in sophomore Sarah Elmore, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 boards. Elmore's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Abigail Anderson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Bethune's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points per game. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Bethune was taken down by South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] 67-28 in their previous matchup back in February of 2015.
