Georgetown is 1-8 against Cedar Park since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Georgetown Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Cedar Park Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Glenn scored an imposing 41 points on Friday, Georgetown still came out on top. Georgetown skirted past Glenn 44-41. Given Georgetown's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Glenn is ranked 478th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Andrew Petter went supernova for Georgetown, rushing for 241 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Xavier Warren also helped out as he racked up 150 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Cedar Park had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-7 win over Leander on the road. With Cedar Park ahead 21-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Trae Hill and Ayden Arp were among the main playmakers for Cedar Park as the former rushed for 218 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry and the latter threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns. Blake Suber also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Georgetown's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.7 points per game. As for Cedar Park, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Georgetown has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 156 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cedar Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging 155.3 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Georgetown took their win against Cedar Park when the teams last played back in November of 2022 by a conclusive 40-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Georgetown since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
