The Alpha Omega Academy Lions suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They fell just short of Northland Christian by a score of 36-33. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Alpha Omega Academy in their matchups with Northland Christian: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Alpha Omega Academy still got an impressive performance from Kathryn Peach, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 25 rebounds. Peach hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Maddie Wallace, who scored seven points.
Northland Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gabby White, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which White has scored at least a third of Northland Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sami Hearn, who scored six points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.
Alpha Omega Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Northland Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alpha Omega Academy will challenge Rosehill Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rosehill Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Alpha Omega Academy in Texas (Rosehill Christian is ranked 215th, while Alpha Omega Academy is ranked 983rd). As for Northland Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against First Baptist Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. First Baptist Christian is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
