After losing to the LaSalle Royal Lions the last time they met, Sports Leadership & Management decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Sports Leadership & Management walked away with a 45-32 victory over LaSalle on Wednesday. Given Sports Leadership & Management's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while LaSalle is ranked 561st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sports Leadership & Management's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Vigo, who scored 14 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Vigo grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Camarrillo, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
LaSalle's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Armand Du Lau, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Marin, who scored eight points.
Sports Leadership & Management has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for LaSalle, they have fallen quite a ways from their 14-6 record last season and are now at 2-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sports Leadership & Management will take on Somerset Academy - Canyons at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Somerset Academy - Canyons is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for LaSalle, they will be playing at home against Don Soffer Aventura at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Don Soffer Aventura focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday.
