After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Centerville, the Union County Patriots were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They walked away with a 54-41 win over Shenandoah. This was payback for Union County, who suffered a 53-49 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Union County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gavin Davis, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Davis pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Logan Boone, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Despite the defeat, Shenandoah saw an underclassman step up: Aiden Coffey scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Coffey scored 15 or more points. Zane Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Union County's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9. As for Shenandoah, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
Union County will head out on the road to square off against Cambridge City Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shenandoah, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Monroe Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Monroe Central is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
