After two games on the road, Horizon Christian Academy is heading back home. After each having a week off, the Horizon Christian Academy Warriors and The Fideles Christian Rangers will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard on Friday.
Two weeks ago, Horizon Christian Academy faced Johnson Ferry Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The matchup between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Horizon Christian Academy falling 50-34.
Horizon Christian Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nathan Hernandez, who rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and Hunter Beenken who picked up 225 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Hernandez really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.
Fideles Christian can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game two weeks ago. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 44-6 win over Hearts Academy. The victory was just what Fideles Christian needed coming off of a 60-6 loss in their prior match.
Fideles Christian found their leader in underclassman Ike Wyngaard, who rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Cade Cook was another key contributor, rushing for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Horizon Christian Academy now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Fideles Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Horizon Christian Academy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 166.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fideles Christian struggles in that department as they've been even better at 208.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Horizon Christian Academy came up short against Fideles Christian in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 21-14. Will Horizon Christian Academy have more luck at home instead of on the road?
