Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory took down Terra Nova 51-33. Given Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Terra Nova is ranked 697th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fedrick Pernell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The contest was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Goorin, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Terra Nova saw an underclassman step up: Kai Gieraths scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for him. Tyrone Mehleeib was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists.
Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Terra Nova, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory is on the road again on Friday and play against Mission at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Mission is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Terra Nova will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sequoia at 4:15 p.m. on December 27th. Sequoia is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
