Given Clarke County's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while Mountain View is ranked 438th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clarke County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Louis Marino, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Marino pulled down eight or more rebounds. Moses Day was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Clarke County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Mountain View, they are on a 21-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-21.
Clarke County will be playing in front of their home fans against Page County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
