Softball Recap: Florala Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Florala's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 20-6 margin over the Samson Tigers. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by eight runs or more this season.

Paige Musso was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Florala got a massive performance out of Skyler Murdock, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Murdock has posted since back in April of 2024. Julia Leonard also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Florala's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Samson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Florala will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Laurel Hill at 5:00 p.m. on April 1st. Samson also won't see the field for a while: their next contest is against Geneva County at 4:00 p.m. on March 31st.
