2A-1 Region II District 5 recap October 8, 2013
Whitesboro added to the longest winning streak in 2A-1 Region II District 5 this week by beating Paradise, 56-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Bearcats.
Bowie moved up to 668 from 728 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Jackrabbits were able to move up by topping Ponder 35-24.
Collin Kilcrease provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Whitesboro beat the Panthers.
Fino Cardona was the best wideout in the league this week as Boyd lost to Pilot Point. Cardona racked up 4 receptions for 43 yards. Austin Cozby helped Boyd's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 30 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Clay Barnett and Cardona, the Yellowjackets have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Barnett leads the league in passing with 660 yards, while Cardona has rushed for 874 yards this season. Eddie Gill's team's Cody Ford leads the league in receiving yards with 257 on 11 catches.
An important game coming up in 2A-1 Region II District 5 this week will be when Boyd takes on Callisburg. At the moment, brandon hopkins' team is in sixth, while the Wildcats are in second.
The Bearcats took down Paradise 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kilcrease ran for 152 yards and caught 1 pass for 30 yards in the win.
