Dell City has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Fort Davis Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Friday, Dell City ended up a good deal behind Marfa and lost 55-38. Dell City has struggled against Marfa recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Dell City had strong showings from Isaac Estrada, who scored ten points along with three steals, and Reyes Espinoza, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Espinoza is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Rector, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Fort Davis, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were outmatched by Van Horn at home and fell 66-13. Fort Davis was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-4.
Dell City has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Fort Davis, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-9.
Dell City strolled past Fort Davis in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 62-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dell City since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
