The Brunswick Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 71-70 to Lakeside. While losing is never fun, Brunswick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Lakeside is ranked 107th).
When it comes to explaining why Brunswick lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nasir Poole. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Poole has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dasean Watson, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Lakeside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryce Reynierson out in front who scored 22 points. Reynierson hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Mi?keal Grissom, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Brunswick has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Lakeside, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-7.
Brunswick won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Evans at 5:00 p.m. on January 20th. One thing working in Evans' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. Lakeside won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Glynn Academy at 3:30 p.m. on January 20th. Glynn Academy will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
