The Brentwood War Eagles entered their tilt with the Gatewood Gators with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Brentwood came out on top against Gatewood by a score of 56-48 on Friday. Given Brentwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Gatewood is ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Faith Archer was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. Cadence English was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Brentwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Gatewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-14.
Brentwood won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Trinity Christian at 2:30 p.m. on February 10th. Brentwood has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 238 points over their last four contests. As for Gatewood, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Piedmont Academy at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Piedmont Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
