Northome/Kelliher hasn't had much luck against Blackduck recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs will face off against the Drakes at 8:15 p.m. Northome/Kelliher is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Northome/Kelliher hadn't beaten Cass Lake-Bena on the road since April 28, 2016 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 15-4 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Noah Heck made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has become a key player for Northome/Kelliher: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Heck was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Northome/Kelliher got a massive performance out of Jayden Lindley, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Lindley's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aidan Nistler, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Northome/Kelliher kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Blackduck came into Monday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Laporte on Monday.
The win got Blackduck back to even at 5-5. As for Northome/Kelliher, their record now sits at 3-7.
Northome/Kelliher couldn't quite get it done against Blackduck in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 as they fell 9-5. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
