The White Oak Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Pamlico County Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. White Oak is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
White Oak had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt East Carteret on Tuesday. Everything went White Oak's way against East Carteret as White Oak made off with a 14-7 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won three games in a row.
Alyssa Carkhuff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.7 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery Sise, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Jenna Banks, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
White Oak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Carteret only posted an OBP of .343.
Pamlico County's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Washington on Wednesday. Pamlico County never let Richlands get on the board and left with a 6-0 win.
Not much got past Kylee Morris, who gave up just three hits to keep Richlands off the board.
On the hitting side, Kyliah Barber and Peyton Robinson did most of the damage at the plate: Barber scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Robinson went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was Robinson's first of the season. Sarah Scott was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
White Oak's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Pamlico County, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
White Oak might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Pamlico County in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can White Oak avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
