The Colon Magi fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Union City Chargers on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to the Chargers. Colon has struggled against Union City recently, as their match on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Colon saw an underclassman step up: Dalton Williams scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Williams is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Muntian, who scored 12 points.
Aidan Decker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Union City, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Rick Austin was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Colon now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Union City, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colon will take on Centreville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Centreville is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. As for Union City, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Reading at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Reading focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Thursday.
