Denver South and George Washington are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Ravens will welcome the Patriots at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Denver South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Golden hit Denver South with a seven-run fourth inning last Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Ravens lost 11-5 to the Demons.
Denver South saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andon Forster, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, George Washington hadn't done well against Thomas Jefferson recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Patriots put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 12-3 victory. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.
Luke Wiederholt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Adrian Reed was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ben Zemel was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
George Washington moved to 6-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Denver South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Denver South has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like George Washington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Denver South came up short against George Washington in their previous matchup back in March, falling 7-4. Will the Ravens have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
